Is plan management free?

Yes. The NDIA funds "Improved Life Choices" in your plan separately — approximately $104.45/month. It doesn't reduce your therapy, support worker or equipment budgets by a dollar. You simply ask for it at your planning meeting.

What does a plan manager actually do?

A plan manager receives invoices from your providers, checks them, pays them on your behalf, and tracks your budget in real time. You get a portal or app showing exactly what's been spent and what's left — without touching your bank account.

Can I switch plan managers later?

Yes, at any time with no penalty. Give written notice (most require 14–30 days), sign a new service agreement, and your new plan manager takes over. We have a free guide on switching that walks through every step.

What's the difference between plan managed and self managed?

With plan management, a plan manager handles your invoices and budget — you can use any provider but do no admin yourself. With self management, you pay providers directly and claim back from the NDIA — maximum flexibility but you hold all the records. Compare them in detail →
